TOPIC: THE GARDEN OF YOUR HEART
KEY SCRIPTURE: MATTHEW 14:22-31 TPT
"As soon as the people were fed, Jesus told his disciples to get into their boat and to go to the other side of the lake while he stayed behind to dismiss the people. After the crowds dispersed, Jesus went up into the hills to pray. And as night fell he was there praying alone with God. But the disciples, who were now in the middle of the lake, ran into trouble, for their boat was tossed about by the high winds and heavy seas. At about four o’clock in the morning, Jesus came to them, walking on the waves! When the disciples saw him walking on top of the water, they were terrified and screamed, “A ghost!” Then Jesus said, “Be brave and don’t be afraid. I am here!” Peter shouted out, “Lord, if it’s really you, then have me join you on the water!” “Come and join me,” Jesus replied. So Peter stepped out onto the water and began to walk toward Jesus. But when he realized how high the waves were, he became frightened and started to sink. “Save me, Lord!” he cried out. Jesus immediately stretched out his hand and lifted him up and said, “What little faith you have! Why would you let doubt win?"
COMMENTARY:
You are—right now—the way you have thought. If you're poor, you've been thinking poor. If you're sick, you've been thinking sick. If you're depressed, you've been thinking depressed. If you're angry and bitter, you've been thinking angry and bitter. Thoughts are seeds that take root in the garden of your heart and manifest themselves over time in your life. The law of attraction states that the cosmos responds to your thoughts by giving you what you focus on. You send out strong signals to the cosmos with your thoughts over time. It sees it as a request.
You are a product of your dominant thoughts. You become what you think. Your decisions come from your thoughts. The quality of your thoughts determines the quality of your life. And the quality of your thoughts are determined by the quality of information you allow into your life. Also, the quality of information you have is determined by your environment and the people who you listen to.
To be carnally minded is death; but to be spiritually minded is life and peace(Romans 8:6). To be carnally minded simply means fixing your mind and walking with what you see or sense in the physical realm from information gathered from your soul, body and the environment. It also means being driven by them as well as making decisions based on them. But to be spiritually minded simply means fixing your mind on God and staying on what He says and living by it. When Peter fixed his eyes on what Jesus said and walked by it, he walked on the water. He was spiritually minded. But the moment he fixed his eyes on the environment and himself, he began to sink(Matt 14:22-31).
Carnal mindedness is death. It doesn't just tend toward death. It's not one of the leading causes or contributing factors toward death. Carnal mindedness equals death. But spiritual mindedness is life and peace. It doesn't just tend toward life. It's not one of the leading causes or contributing factors toward peace. Spiritual mindedness equals life and peace.
You can tell what you've been thinking by what you're reaping. If you aren't reaping life and peace, then you haven't been spiritually minded (or Word minded). “For as he thinketh in his heart, so is he:..(Proverbs 23:7 KJV).
God's Word clearly reveals that you are what you've been thinking.
PRAYER POINT:
Lord, I come by the Blood of Jesus and the Sword of the Spirit, which is the Word of God, and I begin to uproot anything in the garden of my heart that my Father has not planted. As I uproot them I begin to sow the seed of the word of God for all areas of my life in the garden of my heart, in Jesus Name. AMEN!
